I'm taking bets that Peter Banks was involved.

You like to play conservative odds?

Hey Jay, wasn't your wife/partner "with child" six months back?
I never saw you post an outcome of that. I hope all went well.

If you are mobile for out of town shows I've got another "Rumi In Performance" event coming up at Kripalu in Lenox on Saturday, December 19th. It's a great gig at an ideal venue for such things. (I think you asked me once to let you know when I'd be performing over in Massachusetts again. Actually we did it back on October 11th too.)

Hey Rich, thank you for remembering. We welcomed Elijah Jay on April 10, it's hard to believe that almost 7 months have passed. It's quite a trip, parenthood.

I will check with Melanie about the 19th, she really loves your music. It would be terrific to see you perform live.

Here is a picture of our little guy.

Lame, dead-horse thread that is insulting to the 100,000s of Yes fans enjoying the current tour, as well as the 5 current Yes men.

So the parallel thread covering much the same subject from the other perspective, the one with which you personally agree, is a "great thread" while this thread is a "dead horse thread." I seem to sense more than a bit of hypocrisy and a clear double standard in your thinking. Objectively speaking, if one thread is "dead horse" worthy then both should be.

P.S. I think that your "100,000s" number is possibly a tad inflated. There are thirty dates listed for the current tour and it seems to me that the minimum number to qualifty as "100,000s" would be 200,000 which means that average attendance per gig would have to be around 6,700 to hit your mark. I don't think they are drawing those kinds of crowds or playing venues that large.

Re: For those who need help understanding why some don't accept the new lineup

I wish Jon was around. Benoit is not Jon. The problem is that Jon is not Jon anymore.

It's not like he was waiting on the others while his health went south.

If you don't like the new version, fine. But don't tell us that do like the new one that we should not to support the new version.

Jon is a lot more "Jon" than anyone else will ever be. That's for certain. If we're arguing that people should be dropped from the band now based on them not being able to hack it anymore in comparison to their former selves then honesty compels me to report that Howe, Squire and White have all gotta go too since their performance on any given boot from the seventies utterly nukes anything on offer at a gig these days.

We know for a fact that Jon can still sing. The clips are out there to prove it. His voice might have changed a tad, but there is no doubt in the world when he opens his mouth that you are listening to Jon Anderson, the one and only. What we don't know are what limitations, if any, he is still under due to his health struggles. Only Jon, his family and his doctors know that so anyone who posts along the lines of "Jon can do this." or "Jon can't do this." isn't offering anything but speculation.

We don't know what Jon can or can't do, but it seems that he has indicated a willingness to work with the band in some capacity and that it is the band that is spurning him at this point. Sorry kids, but I've got 35 years of Yes music that says "That ain't right." vs. zero years of Yes music done with Benoit on vocals.

frumious young chap - whilst i admire your persistance about jon

the facts are he is NOT coming back

so now there is a new YES who are doing great and are about to tour in the uk and the us

in view of the FACTS is it not about time that you got positive and accept the new lineup

your posts are always about the same thing

it gets a bit boring and gets a bit repetitive

please give the new lineup a chance !!

If and when they actually release a new recording then I will absolutely listen to it and evaluate it on its own merits. I'd do that no matter what band name they used on the album cover. However, as long as all they are doing is touring the oldies it's not as though I don't have 35 years worth of original studio recordings, official live albums, DVDs and boots with the proper singer and with better performances from all parties involved in many cases so it's not as though I am losing out on anything unique and special by not "accepting" the new lineup, whatever the hell that means anyway. I saw this band a little less than a year ago so really I've all ready supported them in the only way that is tangibly meaningful to them. If they want any more then they have to earn it and the only way for them to do that is to make new stuff that is worth a damn.

Drama was:

1. Nearly thirty years ago. I don't know where you were, but I was in elementary school. I've changed a lot since then and so have the men who made the record.
2. Is absolutely no indication whatsoever of what we might or might not expect from the new band if they decide to grace us with new recordings. IMHO Howe, Squire and White can only WISH they could kick as much butt today as they did on Drama.
3. Doesn't feature Benoit David on vocals either.
4. Jon Anderson had direct creative input into some of the music on Drama in its formative stages (as proven by bonus tracks on the remasters of Tormato and Drama) so the album actually still bears his influence to a certain (albeit limited) extent.

I don't see how anyone at this point can rationally argue that one is missing out on anything more by not "supporting" this band than, say, a Doors fan would be missing by not "supporting" The Doors of the 21st Century or whatever they were calling themselves. At any rate, given a choice between Yes music that actually exists and hypothetical Yes music that might or might not exist at some undetermined point in the future I think I'm being pretty rational and pragmatic in sticking with the Yes music that exists, and the overwhelming majority of that features Jon Anderson singing.
