Exclusive - Souvenir instant live CDs - The Six Wives of Henry VIII Live at Hampton Court Palace - May 1st & 2nd 2009

To celebrate the performance of Rick Wakemans Six Wives of Henry VIII he has teamed up with Concert Live to record both shows for an exclusive limited edition souvenir CD set.

Rick will be playing at the classic Hampton Court Palace on 1st and 2nd May 2009, performing, for the first time ever in it’s entirety, his most iconic album - The Six Wives of Henry VIII.

It’s an intimate setting with tickets limited to only 5000 each night, so if you haven’t been lucky enough to get a ticket be sure to get yourself one of the live recordings! If you have been lucky enough to get a ticket then what better way to re live your night with Rick Wakeman at Hampton Court Palace?

The CDs will be produced instantly on the night and will be available to take home straight after the show or you can have them posted home to you.

These will be the only live performances of The Six Wives of Henry VIII anywhere in their entirety.

Don’t miss out on your opportunity to have a piece of history in your very own hands! Pre-order now to make sure you get yours!

Order now by visiting:

http://www.concertlive.co.uk/tour.php?id=75
Thank you for letting us know about this!

Not being able to be there, I bought both nights of CDs, of course. It wasn't cheap, but it still was a lot cheaper than a plane ticket to the U.K.

I wish I could have been there. Sounds like all of you had a fantastic time! I can't wait to hear the CDs!

Re: Global Gathering 2 May 2009 Hampton Court Palace

Last weekend, I was out in the garage cooking one of my famous "beer-can chickens." It was raining so I situated myself in the garage and backed the car in there far enough that I could open the hatch and listen to some tunes. I put on my copy of the Saturday night concert and was flooded with memories of England, my trip, the concert, and all of the fine people with which I had the pleasure of sharing time. Call me sappy if you will, but it just about brought a tear to my eye. I feel so privileged to have been a part of it. I will never forget.

It was a real highlight for me too, Marge. One that I won't forget either. And per last week's post, I agree! Let's do it again!

wow - i just joined this forum and so missed the notes about gathering - we spent time at Hampton Court before the show and ate at the pub across the street - were 13th row center - incredible show - I posted a review on the current TOUR forum elsewhere on this site. will see you next time - maybe as the rumor had it, "King Arthur on Ice"!

He did mention it on Planet Rock just before Hampton Court show.

I'll do some digging!

Re: Global Gathering 2 May 2009 Hampton Court Palace

This isn't it! But just spotted this at rwcc:

Concerts
Chelsea Art Festival
Rick is performing the opening concert of the Chelsea Arts Festival 2009 on June 13th at 7pm. He will be performing with an orchestra and choir playing a suite of work newly orchestrated by Guy Protheroe and his wife Ann Manly titled P 'n' O.

Always on the look-out for new audiences and new opportunities, in 2008 Rick came up with a new slant on presenting his best-loved music.

You can regard “P’n’O” as an abbreviation for ‘piano’ or ‘piano and orchestra’; seated at a 9ft grand piano, surrounded by an orchestra and choir, but without the many keyboards, the rock band, and the heavy amplification which usually goes with it, Rick entertains with newly-orchestrated arrangements of music from his iconic solo albums – including Journey to the Centre of the Earth and King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. While technically described as ‘unplugged’, the show also has echoes of the grand romantic piano concerto: a virtuoso performance enhanced by rich orchestral sounds - sumptuous strings, brilliant brass, wonderful woodwind solos and the additional enhancement of a 40-voice choir.

The music currently consists of seven numbers: there are ‘suites’ from Journey to the Centre of the Earth and King Arthur, Catherine Howard (from the Six Wives of Henry VIII), After the Ball, Gone, but not forgotten, and a brilliant arrangement of two Lennon-McCartney classics – Help and Eleanor Rigby. There is also a slightly frenetic Jig for piano and strings, usually performed as an encore.

Rick Wakeman P’n’O has so far been performed in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, and Vina del Mar, Chile – on both occasions with local symphony orchestras and chorus. Further performances are scheduled for Lugano and Plock (Poland) in July. It is ideally suited to performance in the symphonic surroundings of Cadogan Hall, where it will be receiving its first British performance.

All fans are encouraged to come along and experience this new take on their favourite Wakeman tracks, and of course to wish him some (ever-so-slightly belated) birthday greetings!

Further details can be found on the art festival's Website.

And of course, Return - but he'll never top Quebec for Return!
