How does one hyperlink to an article? In other words have the word appear thusly: article but serve as a hyperlink to something else?

Copy the link you want to display
Use the "insert link" button in your reply area - that's the button with the world icon and the chain link below it
This will provide you with a dialogue box for you to copy the link into
This provides the link in your reply area, inside [URL] formatting
There are two parts to the URL format - the first part is in quotes and is the link; the second part is how the link is displayed.
You can edit the second part to say what you want
In the example below, the first part I have copied the URL formatting, but I have inserted spaces so it doesn't work as a link but instead you can see how it looks
At the foot of this reply is the link as it should look

[URL <space> ="http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/"]Change this bit to be the text - it's the part not in quotes[<space> /URL]

Uh no - I put the <space> items in so that you could see what the URL looked like. Remove the <space> parts. Otherwise all you see is the link. You also need to include the quotes in there as well. Follow my 8 steps and the system will do most of it for you.
