Obviously not knowing what The Grand Poobah has in store for me between now & then, I'm not going to vote, either, and just go with what everyone else decides. If Divine Intervention grants me a JOB between now and then, I will put in a request immediately for whatever weekend we come up with. If they tell me I can't go, I'll tell them what they can do with the job. I know where my priorities are, and I have no intention of missing this. :-)

I would prefer the weekend AFTER Labor Day but didn't think that weekend would get any support at all.

I voted the weekend before Labor Day, but I would really rather do it after labor day. It would be cheaper and less crowded in most places, etc.

Laurel, your family event is only one day, right? Couldn't you head for Seattle when that event is over and come join us then? You live near Vancouver, BC, right? That is not a horrible drive. The Yes Gathering is going to three or four days, I believe.

Personally, I don't care when you have it. Summer is a very busy time when on a farm, so I might make it and I might not. It just depends on what is happening for me.

Hi Hun, the family reunion is Aug. 13-15, near Red Deer, Alberta, and yes, I live near Vancouver BC and was planning on driving to it. To enable us to find the camp site in daylight, we'll probably spend the 1st night in Revelstoke before continuing on to Alta... just to give you an idea of how long it will take just travelling to and from the event, driving through two mountain ranges, twice!.

Driving to or from Seattle is not horrible except in rush hour or when a big game lets out. Lining up at the US border can be a bit horrible but I'm willing to do that on the BC Day weekend (July 31-Aug.1 -- could take hours!) rather than miss this gathering!

I can't make the July dates but could make the end of Aug.
