Chris, did Jeter get a gold glove in his rookie year? This year's very special, with the championship and the awards. But did 96 top it?

No, but in his rookie year, he won Rookie of the Year, and was 4th in the league in singles (142) which was good for first the next year. He hasn't won a gold glove in 3 years (won one 04,05,06). I think this year is especially impressive because of the way he looked to improve himself in the off season, making such an improvement at his age. Jeter was never as strong up the middle, but it became glaring in the past couple of years to me, and was verified by a report that he had the worst range of any regular shortstop in the game in the game. No longer. He is a winning player from attitude to skill, to off the field conduct.

Re: The Bronx Bombers 09...The New York Yankees!!!
Well, hot stove for the Yanks proves to be pretty hot.
Curtis Grandison, no more Coke, Kennedy....Nick Johnson returns, and so does Javier Vasquez! Goodbye to Melky a fine player....and Matsui spouts wings, well he deserves em. An excellent player for the Yanks. Johnny Damon is apparently gone ...but not so fast, lets see if he comes off his stance (which I think is a bit much) if he gets no offers at his asking price. He still fits in perfectly if he wants to come back, I surely would take him. Roy leaves the division, Lackey comes in. Oh, and to piss off Yankee haters even more, the Yankees are apparently looking into Jason Bay, or Matt Haliday. The Yanks did pay 25 million in luxury tax for 8 teams. 6 out of those 8 teams make the highest profit in the Majors by the way.

Re: The Bronx Bombers 09...The New York Yankees!!!
'Johnny Damon when asked if he had any bitterness toward the Yankees:
" No, none -New York is the best organization I havever played for they do things right ....." "New York City is the best city in the world, the fans are great, the roll call was fantastic....every detail about New York, is great." Funny thing about Johnny Damon. Before he came to the Yankees, or even this year, the one enduring image I had of him was when he looked like Jesus in a Boston uni doing us in with a grand slam with that unique swing of his. But after his playing this past year and in this past World Series, I will remember that , and his running play, and his HR swing with the Yanks more than anything.

Re: The Bronx Bombers 09...The New York Yankees!!!
Yes, so long, you lovable idiot (that's not a diss, I genuinely like the guy). You served your time admirably and was generously rewarded, as we were with your play.
But they replace him with Randy Winn? ![]() Granderson was the best pickup so far; Johnson I'm still scratching my head over. Does Cashman think he's much improved over the last time we had him? And I'm going to have a wait and see attitude with Vasquez. I like the bargain hunting they're doing this year after last year's 'let's spend like we're growing money on trees'. You don't need to spend a ton of money to win a championship (see Florida Marlins). Bay to the Mets. Heh heh heh...I'm very tempted to get a shirt and wear it around. Bosox fans won't care, 'cause it's the Mets.
